So I backed up my default calendar app and uninstalled it with
titanium backup but it looks like TB doesn't really back up stuff for the sake of restoring from an uninstall.

I found the calendar .apk...can anyone guide me through putting it back?

Why was I removing it? Long story short, rubix focused theme broke the calendar and I was confused about how to install the 'fix' and followed the wrong directions "back up and uninstall the old one, install new one from zip"...yep.

i'm not sure i understand your issue, but let me take a run at it. if i understand correctly, you uninstalled the calendar.apk, but would now like to reinstall it. when you say you "found" the .apk - where is it??

    Sorry for being unclear.

I uninstalled the calendar like you said. I meant that I had tracked down a calendar.apk file, not that I found one on the phone...sorry xD

sorry for the late reply - been out most of the night. the easiest way is to just drop the apk on your sdcard, open up Astro, click on the app and you will get the "Application File" pop up. select "Open App Manager", and then click install.

the other option is to put on sdcard, find it thru Root Explorer, and then use the installation package by clicking on the app.

if that doesn't work, then your app may not be signed. in which case you will have to use Root Explorer to change permissions (check read under user group and others; check write under user)

if that doesn't work, holla back! :)

the apk may not be signed, and you may have to try to install using Root Explorer, and changing the permissions. or, you can just reflash the rom (try without wiping), and reflash the theme, which (i'm assuming) contains the calendar apk already signed for that rom. (from your op, i'm not sure what you mean by the calendar app being "broken", and whether it's fixable - i'm assuming it is. by just reflashing the rom and theme, you can get the calendar app back, and then go about applying the update.zip to "fix" whatever bug there was.) or, maybe i'm just misunderstanding you altogether...
