I had pre-ordered my Incredible and received it in April. I am now on my 2nd cert like new replacement. !st issue is that it is bull**** that you get a cert like new(refurbed?) replacement. My original one day just got stuck in a weird reboot mode like it wanted to reboot but would fully do it. I brought it into A Verizon store.
They looked at it and couldnt get it to turn on fully. After several battery pulls they ordered the 1st replacement. That only lasted 2 weeks and then wouldnt turn off or do anything for that matter. It was just stuck on the home screen. Now I have the 2nd replacement and this one is working for the time being.
Wouldnt you think that they would give you a new replacement being that the damn phone has only been out for 3 months. Has anyone else heard of these phones having issues??

I was a tech for Verizon, and this argument is so stupid. People argue that they want a new replacement because they are afraid a CLNR will have issues. Hello, the original, "new" phone you've had for less than 3 months had issues. Wouldn't you rather get a phone that has been put through more tests than a new one and has been rebuilt from working parts and covered with new cosmetics?

The Env3 is a perfect example. Right from LG, brand-new, they were absolute crap. The CLNR's (in the later batches) fixed the issue, while the new models still had issues.

That is called "Not meant to be". I would go with a different phone. Even if you do get one that works perfectly your mindset about it will tell you that something is wrong even it isn't. I sure wouldn't put up with that.

If that is the case then why did the 1st replacement fail after 2 weeks being rebuilt from different new parts and being put through a multitude of testing. Makes me worried and waiting for the 2nd one to fail.

Don't rule out user error..

that is not a factor!! Please, reader comprehension should be a factor if one responds to threads. If was clearly explained as to how both phones malfunctioned. Even other so called techs, such as yourself, couldnt understand why both phones were acting as they were.
User error would not make a phone act in limbo between shut off and reboot and then 2nd phone be in a frozen state. As a matter of fact each phone had not been touched for hours as both times I was golfing.
Living in Florida I thought maybe the intense heat and humidity might have affected the phones due to being in my vehicle for 4 hours each time.

LOL. Aka "User error." Don't leave electronics in intense heat, it's in the manual. You're right, reader comprehension should be a factor in posting in threads. Have a nice day and keep blaming HTC and Verizon for your stupidity.

Getting upset will not solve the problem.

Dude I would never leave my Incredible in the heat for that long. I always carry it with me to prevent it from overheating and frying something. The parts in the phone are extremely small so it doesn't take much to fry them. I'm not saying that's what it was but I know it didn't help anything.

only Scoder KNOWS this is what it is. This phone isnt useable if It cant be left in your glove compartment or in your golf bag when you play golf then there is something wrong. I wouldnt listen to scoder( techs are just people who read out of manuals). No other phone from my blackberries on ever had an issue. This isnt my 1st smartphone.

"Techs are just people who read out of manuals?" Let me clarify. I was a Device Specialist and Technician for Verizon Wireless through a contracting company, Flextronics. My job entailed a lot more than your average tech: opening phones, diagnosing electrical, soldering and wiring problems, and correcting these issues if we had the tools to do so. We also taught classes to people who aren't too tech savvy. I suggest you give your local VZW store a call and schedule a class, maybe you'll learn a thing or too about electronic devices and what not to do with them.
First of all, a Blackberry's processing power is nowhere near a 1GHz Snapdragon, so the power to idle is much less than your Incredible. Throw out any other comparisons you're thinking of using between the 2 phones.
If you left your phone in your confined glove compartment, where the inside of the car is probably near 115 degrees, your Incredible has nowhere to vent the heat from its already hot processor, which is now building more and more heat from external conditions. You let this happen for 4 hours; would you leave your laptop running at those temperatues? I hope not, that's how thermal paste dissipates (Xbox 360s Red Ring of Death) and processors and GPUs lose their connections with the motherboard. I'd say this is probably what happened with your CPU both times.
I also think that its complete common sense that the place you had the phone stowed was the culprit of why 2 perfectly working phones just stopped working, being as how both times you went back to the car to find the phone broken.

I just don't get why somone would leave a $600 device in their car. Golf pants have pockets right? I have my Droid with me at all times.

I am on my 2nd replacement incredible. I had all kinds of problems from the get go. After threatening Verizon if they did not give me a mew phone then i was going to sell the replacement on EbaY and opt out of my contract and go to At&T. The Verizon manager all of a sudden said to me "u can pick out any phone u want" I walked away totally disgusted with the customer service. Have not had good experiences with the Verizon people only the tech guys know what they r talking about! Now my like new 2nd repalcement is a piece of doody. I do not like the phone at all. I have had way too many problems with it...to many to list! But I am stuck with Verizon and my phone for 2 more years. NO more upgrades for me. I just don't like there attitude. Terrible customer service. It is the principle for me because I bend over backwards for my customers! rant rant rant......Boo Verizon!

If the heat is the culprit then the phone is not conducive to Florida. Carrying a phone on your person while golfing is a burden. I dont know anybody who would do that.I mentioned your reply to the verizon "tech" staff and they said they never heard of that issue.Anyways, good theory but no dice. I am done with the lousy Incredible. I bought a Droid X off of ebay and will sell the Incredible
