Well its all located in the apps .apk file. The icon is in the res>drawable-hdpi folder (or similar) and in order to change the name it will be in an .xml file for that .apk. I ve never cared about changing names so I havent ever looked into it so not sure exactly which one..

No you cannot. The only icons/names that can be edited must be on one of the 3 home screens when using Better Cut.

First of all be careful with mac it has compression issues. You dont need to install it, just replace it. Open command prompt and type this:
    su
    mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    busybox cp -R /sdcard/name-of-file.apk /apks/destination
    reboot

there is no apps.apk. What I meant by that is, lets say you want to change the browser icon, you would copy the browser.apk and edit that. apps referred to just whatever app you want to change..

Well Here is what I did. I'm using a pc so it might be different. I didn't need to use the terminal emulator.

Example: Using root explorer did a copy of youtube.apk (Or whatever one you want to change) out of the apps folder and move it to sdcard. From here I mounted the phone, and change the youtube.apk to youtube.zip. I then opened up youtube.zip (not extracted) and replace the png files with the ones I wanted. Make sure you rename the new png files the same as the old ones. After your done,I renamed youtube.zip back to youtube.apk then unmounted the phone. Restart root explorer, and replaced the new youtube.apk in the sdcard folder with the old one in the apps. After replace set your permissions (check all of them). Exit and reboot. Working for me.

    I ended up doing

    su
    mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    busybox cp -R /sdcard/name-of-file.apk /system/app
    reboot
and that worked. i still havent figured out how to rename though, just how to change the icons

Does anyone know which file in an apk file the information for the name is stored and if it can be edited?
