Verizon is sending me a new Droid...my month and half old one died. I need to take the sd card out of the old one. How do I do that?

Go to Settings> SD card and phone storage settings, go to unmount SD card. Then remove your battery and sd card

If the old Droid is dead, it's probably not possible to unmount first. :)
