Pretty sure (don't have an X so I could be wrong here), but if you have clockwork (which is a recovery option for root) you should be rooted already.

Sounds like it got updated somehow. Not too sure. May need to wait for some X folk to come around.

Its likely an update debunked the original root. I am a d2g user and have z4root. If you do too or have something similar just reroot and you should be set. I had rooted my phone installed an update and su still showed up but didn't work... a simple reroot fixed that.

I mean r u trying to get to stock then reroot? Cuz that's what I would do at this point. Sbf it with the full 340 sbf then reroot with z4

U can and should have both. Once rooted, apply dx bootstrapper for cw recovery. But it seems like u need a fresh start. Are u on 2.2 or 2.2.1

Ok you could sbf or try to reroot with z4root, but occasionally when a Droid x was rooted at the time of the recent update, it could become really difficult to root it again with z4root. You can follow the link in my signature and run through the options to manually root and you should be good to go. But try z4root first cause it might work.

Few ways. Maderschramm put out an all in one zip u just apply thru cw. Takes u to complete stock, latest kernel, base, sys, and bootloader. Or u can sbf. I just used the full 340 sbf last night to verify and it is official. Then u reroot.
