So I installed the Honeycomb theme yesterday for PE5. I would like to uninstall the themed facebook it came with, because, while being gorgeous, it's very slow to respond on my phone and the text is hard to read with the clear background. How would I remove this themed version since it doesn't show up under applications in settings?

Thanks for the help in advanced!

easiest way is with either RootExplorer or Absolute System app from market...actually i suppose it could be done with astro since this ROM has godmode. in that case turn on godmode from PE settings, using your file explorer(Astro) navigate to system/app/ and scroll till you find the facebook app and delete it.

Won't let me delete it, and it comes up with "uninstall unsucessful" when I try uninstalling it via Astro.

that would suggest that godmode doesn't work. root explorer would be able to do it...just have to switch it to r/w when yuo get to system/app....

Bleh! That really sucks! I dont own Root Explorer, money is always an issue when you have child support, plus you're supporting your girlfriend as well.

What if I backed up to the unthemed version, would I be able to delete the facebook.apk from the zip for the theme before installing, then just install facebook via the market?

assuming it's in /system/app, you could also try deleting it in terminal emulator (all case-sensitive and make sure that's the name of the facebook app i have written in below):

    su
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    cd /system/app
    rm Facebook.apk
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    sync
    reboot

    best,
    rf

Titanium Backup should also work. In fact, this is what I always use to delete unwanted apps that come packaged in ROMs (like Genie Widget, Fancy Widget or Torch). Just make sure, in Preferences, "Chuck Norris Mode" is selected. (On a side note, that might be the best term for a preferences option.)

Thanks for all the input guys. I just flashed back to an unthemed version, deleted the facebook.apk, and reinstalled the theme. Worked perfect so far, this version runs A LOT better and is easier on my eyes. Yay being legally blind!

Super manager on the market could be used to delete an app from the system as well.
