What is involved to get rid if it (and obviously potentially other things!)

You have two options.

First option is to root. Honestly, if you're just rooting to remove a few stupid apps, don't bother rooting.

Second option, and the preferable one, is to install a new launcher. Im partial to launcher plus or pro or whatever it is. LP.

Just go and download a new launcher from the market (I think most can hide icons) and, next time you hit the home button, it will ask what you want to use to complete the action. Select your new launcher, set it as the default for the action. From there, it varies based on launcher...

First off, I agree with getting rid of that horrible excuse of a game for a phone.

Second, I believe there are more than just a "few stupid apps" out there that make

rooting more than worth it. And yes a launcher will let you hide the icon in your app

drawer. But it will still be there, taking up space, tormenting you :) Was that overboard?
