Actually, I disagree. lol I will be building a Froyo version of Steel Droid, updated with whatever I can put in it. I think will be the only one, but I still think its worth another go. I meant to update it a long time ago, but never got around to it. I still want to bring an updated version of Froyo Steel Droid for the D1, just for giggles, and for those diehard Froyo fanatics. :icon_ lala:

This isn't working for me. When I hold power and "x" I get the moto logo for awhile (30 seconds or more) then it goes blank for a second and the logo pops back up again for about the same amount of time and seems to continue this cycle for as long as I hold the buttons. I also tried letting go of the power button after the logo first appears but it's the same thing. If I let go of the button(s) it eventually boots into Steel Droid.

wow, i forgot the easy way :p, just hold the power button with the phone on until the power menu comes up, select reboot, then recovery...if that doesnt work then you must have corrupted the recovery somehow, just reflash clockwork if that happens
you can also get the app terminal emulator (might be preinstalled?) and type this in
    Code:
    su
    reboot recovery

Yeah I figured the recovery must have been hosed so I reflashed it from Rom Manager. After that I tried a backup from Rom Manager again and bob's yer uncle, it's doing its magic.

Well, I went back to stock non-rooted. At first it seemed like it was quite a bit better in terms of lag but once I got everything loaded back on it and used it real life for a bit I find that it does lug down sometimes. It's still very useable and better than it was when stock before. But, I'd like to try loading some rooted roms again. What's the best way to make a backup rom from a non-rooted droid so I can go back to this stock state whenever I want?

Not sure. I don't really see the harm in rooting your setup, then you can use RZR recovery to do a nandroid backup. Rooting your "stock" setup isn't really going to affect performance. It's only once you start messing with custom roms, gingerbread, memory tweaks, more apps, etc that performance gets hit.

Yes flashing the update.zip to root only installs superuser, busybox, and the superuser binary and doesn't touch anything else

    Charging LED

    Hi!

I was wondering how you can turn off the green charging LED on the phone. Whenever I dock it while I'm in the car, the bright green LED on the phone is a little distracting.

    Thanks!
