Thats one of them. Just nandroid, and then all of my backups, that one is the one I'm trying to shoot for though.

I know that is a nandroid backup. I'm asking what's in it, folder wise to see if the backup is good

Have you tried any of your other backups to see if it's just that one?

ah, therein lies the problem, when I hit "choose backup" I receive the error message before any backups are displayed.

As far as whats in it:
boot.img
cache.tar
data.tar
misc.img
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
system.tar

Sounds like something is wrong with your sd card. I would back it up then format it on the phone, then put just the nandroid folder back on and try again

Edit: The file looks good

I am going to try that. I just finished backing it up but now the phone will not unmount the SD card in order to format it. It simply times out.

If it won't unmount to format. Power down the phone and pull the sdcard, format it on your PC, then stick it back in and format it on the phone.

does it matter how I format it on my PC filesystem wise? I am running windows 7. Is a right click format acceptable for the droid?

Probably doesn't matter. Not sure, but I would assume when you put it back in your phone to format it will make it right

So I'm formatting the card in my phone but it just asks me twice and then nothing. Is that whats supposed to happen? No confirmation message or anything?

EDIT: seems to have worked when attempting a backup with the SD card empty. I am going to try to add the files again and see what happens from there.

Seems to have worked ok. I'll keep you posted. I just transferred the one backup I was interested in and deleted the old nandroid folder, just in case. Runs fine now, I don't forsee any problems in the future. Thanks again for your help.
