I'm on one of VZW's More Everything plans. Since I have to conserve bandwidth, I'll use wifi when I can. I've read that connecting to unsecured wifi can leave one vulnerable to their data being cracked.

Can anyone recommend a good VPN? I've already tried PureVPN and it wouldn't connect.

    Thanks.

SurfEasy isn't bad. You get so much bandwidth for free, but you can do things like invite friends and other stuff to get more bandwidth per month. My home network is secured, so I don't use it a whole lot, but I did in the hotel on vacation a week ago.

I'll try that out. With VPN on Android, am I supposed to download the provider's app or use the VPN option in the phone's settings under Security to connect?

    Thanks again.

Depends on what you're doing. I have a VPN into my work computer that's setup in the settings, but for personal use I use surfeasy.

Kinda putting blind faith into them though, because I don't know how secure it really is, but I figure it's at least a little more secure than using nothing.

Actually, now that I think about it, surfeasy creates a vpn in the settings for you. Haha

Ah, that's much easier. I'm about to give it a try. Will post back with results.

    Thank you.

I installed the app. It connects, but within a minute, it disconnects again.

That's odd. I used it on my S4 before the last OTA update with no problem. Does it say anything, or it just disconnects? I'm assuming you told the phone to allow it to create the vpn in settings?

I don't have the latest update because it was causing my phone to reboot, so I flashed back to the previous version with Odin. The VPN connects initially, then disconnects randomly. Yes, I told the phone to allow it. Are these VPNs meant to be used only over wifi? I'm on my LTE right now.

It should work over either. It's just creating a kind of "tunnel" to their secure servers, so as long as it has a connection, it should work in theory.

With that said though, I'm not sure I ever tried it on the mobile network, but I know it worked for me on wifi on a few separate occasions.

In theory perhaps, but in real life, for me, no. I've uninstalled it and will keep looking.

Thank you for your help at any rate.

No problem. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but as I said, I don't have a lot of experience with it. Maybe someone else will come along with better advice.
