Just a while ago, I received a spam text message on my Droid 1 running B.B 0.4.

It was from #7603087077, and states -
Code:
Need a payday loan up to $1500? Visit www.FastCheckAdvance.com/?ly5v6 for INSTANT approval, cash in one hour!(2optout rply stop or cust.srvc@800-380-9643)
I've never received any spam txt messages before, and the couple things I did today was

1. Install the new Chrome to Phone 2.0, and the firefox plugin for it on my computer, and link them.
2. Manually installed the droid2 live wallpaper, and droid2 boot animation files posted on droid-life.com.
3. Bought the pro key for Astro file manager from the market.

I've checked my google account from the google dashboard, and I don't see any thing suspicious. I went ahead and changed my pass for it though anyways.

This kind of concerns me since it's happened just this once since I've had my droid, and a few hours after doing theses few things doesn't seem like a coincidence to me.

Really don't know what else I could do, aside from installing a backup ROM image. Is there any link for reporting things like this to google for Android, or..Should I even be concerned?

It happens to a lot of people, don't worry about it. I doubt very much that it came from anything you have done.

put your cell on the national do not call list. takes a couple days but it'll solve the problem.

as for spam texts, i never got them. I didn't even know companies would do that, hope you paid for text and if you did, what a waste of one...

^^thanks just did that..i like two thumbs up!

no problemo.

i know how annoying those telemarketers can be. oddly enough, i get spanish telemarketers for my cell and regular ones for my home phone. after registering both my numbers the amount of calls dramatically cut down.

note: you can also report certain numbers that call multiple times a day. i have done a couple and haven't gotten a call from either numbers back since.

for the ones too lazy to look it up :p

why don't you just tell the telemarketer that she no longer owns the phone? would seem like an easy fix....

i know they're just trying to do their job, but the lack of common sense and courtesy from some of them is /sigh

I use an app called Gblocker to block unwanted calls. I downloaded it from the market, and there's a slight charge for it. It's slightly buggy, but I just click on it a few times to go to my recent call list and click on the last number after I determine that its a telemarketer. I can block partial numbers too, if they get aggressive with different phone numbers from the same exchange or area code.

You can also log onto your VZW account online and under safe guards tab, you could select "call & message blocking" enter in the phone numbers you wish to block and then save changes. I believe you could block up to 20 numbers.
