I did my fair share of reading up on "rooting" the Moto Droid 1. I guess I installed the wrong files and I ended up flashing back to the OTA update before FroYo was released. I'm trying to download the newest stock rom and install it. Please let me know if I have the process right.

download (insert link here) for latest OTA update
copy file onto root folder of sd card
reboot by holding "X" + "power"
    install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)

do i have to zip the file before I drag it onto my root folder?
and also do I have to delete anything off of my root folder before anything? I have recover-099.3b, do I need to delete this before I reflash back to stock rom? if anyone could please PM me or reply asap, it would be much appreciated. I know I should have done more research before attempting something like this, my apologies to all the gurus out there tired of hearing about this.

Are you running SPRecovery - or Clock Work Recovery? The update.zip thing is only important if it's SPRecovery.

I'm assuming he has SPRecovery because CW only has "install zip from sdcard" in it's menu. (I have a text file of the 2 menu layouts to refer to just for this sort of thing) :)

    SPRecovery has
    - Allow update.zip Installation
    - Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)

Did you chose the "allow..." first, then select Install afterwards? If I remember correctly, when I first did it, I didn't choose the Allow update.zip installation and it wouldn't let me do anything. Second time I did, then chose install /sdcard... and it went ok.

EDIT: I guess I take too long to type my posts. You hadn't replied when I started responding. :)

Where is the update.zip file? You were supposed to download it and put it on the SD card (Step 1 and 2 of the process you listed)

I gotta +1 this. We were all under the assumption from your first post that you had the ROM downloaded to your SD card and were trying to flash that from there. If you tell the phone to look there and it doesn't see it, it's not going to work.

Double check the download folder if you downloaded the file to your SD card. Copy it out into the root (meaning not in ANY folder) of the SD card and rename to update.zip. Then follow the steps mentioned in previous posts.

My apologies...update was in there too. I just ended up using 2.0.1 and flashing ultimatedroid5. But how can I get the latest version of blackdroid with the latest firmware? Can someone guide me in the right direction?
