I heard there is a way to tether for free? Not sure if this is illegal, or if it voids your warranty or what not. The program was called Free Tethering, but this was on a Droid X2 I heard about it. Can we tether for free?

Well, im sure its not what you are looking for but just as an FYI it can also tether through Bluetooth.
I am using my Razr to tether with my wifi Xoom with no rooting or extra apps with no problems.

honestly....not sure, I just paired them together noticed that it had a separate Bluetooth icon than the normal one which noted it was tethering so pulled up the browser and it was running.

Cool. Didn't know you could tether for free with Bluetooth. I wonder if you can free tether with the USB cord, without rooting your Razr.

I have always used easy tether (usb tether) from the market for free tether without root..worked with my fascinate..droid charge..bionic and now my razr. Paid version 9.99 one time fee for unlimited access and works great. Has saved me the $30 month vzw fee for 18 months now.

I need wifi i cant run a usb to my xbox. Idk why they dont have wifi tether with out root. All the wifi tether on the market with root dont work. Seems kinda dumb to me to pay 25 bucks to post something that dont work even on a dx. Just saying

I used Bluetooth to tether my Razr to an iPad 2. It worked well when I used 3g on the Razr, but would only work intermittently when the Razr had 4g running. The Bluetooth remained connected, but the iPad could not seem to handle the faster 4g data connection.

Curious, what d/l speed are you getting? Would you go to speedtest.net on your iPad and give us a report?

Currently own a windows phone and have been looking at the Razr but love the fact that I can usb tether my windows phone without any problems and to date have not had any issues with Verizon even with some months data exceeding 20GB. My question is do you think I can accomplish the same thing with a Razr?

If so what all is needed and where can I find the steps to implement?

As @fascinateme stated, EasyTether app is the way to go. I downloaded it last night and USB tethered to my laptop. Worked great for 3g and 4g networks on my phone. The app and website both have easy-to-follow instructions. Go to the Android Market and look up EasyTether Pro. Read the description and visit their website for the PC drivers you need to download. The app takes you step by step to set up the tether.
