ok so this is my first thread so bare with me.

im rooted and running ultimate droid v8.6.3 for the past few days.

im getting this stupid little icon that looks like a black postcard icon on the notification bar whenever i recieve a message AS WELL AS my regular Black message icon. i scroll down the notification and it says:

    [icon] New message(s)
    you have an unread message

and if i click 'clear' it goes away

it started happening earlier today, it happened maybe 30 mins after i got the new swype keyboard. i unchecked swype and it still came up

    help please!

P.S. sorry if this was the wrong subject to put it in but im rooted so its kinda close haha

Sounds to me like you have the stock mms.apk and the Blackdroid customized mms.apk both running. Maybe one is named wrong or something? In root explorer look in /system/app/ and see if there is a mms.apk and a Mms.apk or something like that. But it kinda sounds like you have 2 text message apps running and notifying you.

If you use Handcent or something then yes, technically you could. I don't think it causes any problems not having the stock messaging if your using something else. But you still need to find out where the extra one is coming from.

You sure you don't have Handcent, or Chomp SMS, or something like that? Maybe Missed Call 2.0 notifying you? Something else has to be doing it.

Don't really see anything, but what you can do is rename Mms.apk to Mms.apk.bak so the system won't see it as an app and go for a day or 2 and see if it still happens.

You have to do it through root explorer, which you can find in the market. If you have a rooted phone root explorer is a must. It let's you mount and unmount your system and data partitions with a single button, as opposed to typing a bunch of code in the terminal.
