That my friend is the ultimate test. I always think I've finally found the perfect setup and then bam, crazy ass lag. I'm always debating whether its the kernel or not too, or maybe some build.prop tweak. Tough to nail it down I tell ya.

Yeah I realize I'll never find the perfect setup, something will always cause a problem. Lately I've been flashing the same old ROMS back and forth, installing & uninstalling V6, Ram Manager, swapper, and any other tweaks I'm comfortable trying to no avail other than alot of frustration. Hoping SD 10.1 and any updates continue to run this good, glass half full type of guy, lol.

Basically, with every rom you use it will be smooth and run good for a day or maybe even a few hours. Next day or too. Lag lag lag lag.
Nothing can stay smooth and stable I guess...

As of now I decided to go crazy so Im trying BB 0.6.2.1 and its running pretty good so far. Not liking that fact that it is Android 2.2.1. But whatever... We'll how this goes. Ill give it one day lol

Yea I've finally come to that conclusion, that no matter what, the OG and its stellar performance is not so stellar after a few days. I've been on winner's cm7 build since it came out, but gonna flash sd10.1 in hopes that the latest source will help extend its shelf life. Or its half life I'll accept.

I'm tweaking PE to see if I can get good battery. BB is my next stop and my last stop with froyo

BB is running pretty good for me. Seems like deprimed kernel doesn't work for it though..so I have to use chevy kernel at 1200 LV. I decided to try it with no tweaks and not even supercharger considering its froyo.
I'm actually going to try metiCkmod for the first time and see how it goes if BB becomes sluggish.

I wanna try out snkbitten, metickmod, and gimpsource before my possible upgrade. Then I can say I have used every D1 rom atleast once :D

Thats an interesting idea, I've tried every GB ROM but there are alot of froyo ROMS haven't used. May have to try that some day.

Got ya beat there lol, I already have tried all of them... a lot of the froyo ones are pretty boring and are basically a copy of cyanogenmod...

That's why I didn't flash a lot of the older ones.

Back on the froyo days I was stuck on BB back at 0.2 so never tried anything else. Its funny how I decide to try them now :p

I came into the rom scene about a few months before GB was ported, I then flocked to only GB, I hated froyo, but now I freaking love it. It's sooo much smoother than all the GB roms I have tried so far.

I assume you are asking about froyo right? if so well I am a big fan of Ultimate Droid 2.5.0, it's very smooth, very clean, includes a lot of things added into GB roms. I also liked PE 4.2 but it has really bad battery life. I remember being on BB for a while and i'm on the froyo one right now again. If it's as good as I remember I recommend it the most followed by UD. UD had a very nice theme, plus lots of speed. It has always been my go to rom. I just wish I could give it better battery life.

I am running very good with BB 0.6.2.1 right now. Pretty amazed with it. Love how it actually looks like gingerbread unlike other froyo roms.

One thing from running a few tests is the number of apps you have on your system whether in use or not has a direct effect on how much it bogs down these D1s. Even with a sep app/swap sd parts. As I loaded the last update of SD10rc3 I only reloaded just the apps I actual use on any kind of reg basis. The rest I simply store the .apk in my apps folder I created on my SD card. Then if ever I need them its a 30 second process and I am up and running. I find this better for me then trying to do a net download of the apk as there are times I am without data connection where I travel and its faster regardless.

I have noticed a big effect on lag issues. Further I have my D1 scheduled to do a reboot each night while I sleep and its on the charger. I am running a 32g class 4 SD running both an ext4 apps and a 128mb swap partition.

Another thing is that some installed programs even thought they are on the SD cards ext4 apps part and tech not running I think they must have some effect on a service that is running or something to that effect as the more you have at a point it starts to effect perf. I of course could be way off on this but its a SWAG.
