Radio Shack Purchases???

Has anyone made a purchase through Radio Shack? I was on the phone with Verizon and I asked why Radio Shack offered a phone on their site for $100 cheaper then through Verizon. The rep stated the warranty is going to be different. I haven't had a major problem with my purchases through Verizon, usually a phone call or two to get me replacements or solutions. Would I not be able to do that with a Radio Shack purchase?

They use a third party insurance company. But, no matter where you purchase a phone, the warranty is one year.

Does the one year warranty go through Verizon or do I have to use the phone manufacturer? I am aware of the Assurian (?) insurance, but I was concerned about the warranty?

So does any purchase not made through a Verizon corporate store have the warranty through the manufacturer only? I thought that purchases made through BB could be taken into a Verizon store for exchange or exchanged through verizonwireless.com. I'm confused.
