Anyone know how to get rid of this thing? Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not.

Long press the back key...that enables / disables the onscreen tab. If you want to disable completely - there is a setting in system setting to disable / enable completely.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. Long press back key doesn't seem to take me there and I can't find the setting you mentioned. Any further help would be great.

If it's what I'm thinking, try going into settings>display. Uncheck multi window. Hope this helps.

Correction to previous post : settings > motion > quick glance. Uncheck. That will disable it! :)

If quick view is on, the phone must be laying flat. Wave your hand over the phone pretty closely. The display will come on after a several second delay and display the screen for only a few seconds.

It only stays on for about 2 seconds. The first time I noticed quick glance on my phone it was in the middle of the night while I was reaching for the phone and it freaked me out. Lol

Yes, like musicmelanie3 said! I think there is way too much delay and it doesn't stay on long enough to be useful
