Long time no see :) My question is will I be able to tether this phone to my wifi at home in order to save me from going over the "unlimited 2 Gb" usage?

So long as your phone has Wi-Fi capability then yes, you can use your home Wi-Fi to stay under your limit. As a matter of fact you can use any Wi-Fi signal. I use the Wi-Fi at my house, in my ambulance, and in the hospital where I am stationed. I used almost 3 gb via Wi-Fi and 1.8 gb on mobile data. Doing forget about places that offer free Wi-Fi like McDonalds and Starbucks also. Best practice is to leave Wi-Fi on and connect to whatever open network you can but also that you trust.

That phone has wifi connectivity, so I'm good to go. And one other question, could I root and upgrade the OS on that phone if I so chose to or is that not possible with that type of phone?

Obviously I don't have that phone so I don't know if root has been achieved yet. If it has been rooted and someone has the update you want in ROM form then yes you can. Best way to find out is Google "is (your phone here) rooted yet ". That should get you started. Also look here in the forums. If your phone is listed there should be a "development and hacking" section.
