This is probably a nob question but it recently came up..

When using clockworkmod recovery, to say flash a different rom.

And you wish to wipe, cache, data, system, boot, in partions menu, is it necessary to first select mount /system, then proceed with format cache, format data, format system, format boot?

The reason I ask is because I have never first selected mount /system prior to formating all of the above, but in a recent post/thread by a rom dev in his instructions on formatting he said to first mount /system...then format each...

    Thanks for the help.

I don't know why he/she would tell you to first MOUNT a filesystem then format it.

You can not format a mounted filesystem. MAJOR data loss/corruption would ensue!
