Is there any way to turn off the sound when you start swyping a new word?

You can turn off Swype sounds by going to Settings, Language and Keyboard, Swype Settings, Audio Feedback.

Hunting, did you sign up to beta test? Currently the beta is closed so no posting of APK's are allowed in this forum.

Just long hold in the area that you want to type in and the text option will come up.
