So what is different about your phone when you root it.

It grants you permission to do anything with the phone. I'm considering doing it to get rid of some of the factory apps that I don't use.

I would love to get rid of the nonsense apps on the incredible but just don't know yet if its worth possibly pricking my phone and my luck I would do it.

If you are considering rooting then prepare first. Read all of the links on rooting. Print them and make notes. If you have questions post and the community will reply. If you decide rooting is for you we'll be here to assist.

I don't think we've had anyone brick their phone, yet.
