Question about 2.1 update and internal space

I'm running ultimate droid 7.8, and under system updates the 2.1 update is there. I downloaded it and it did not go through, as planned, but the update still shows up there. I'm ok with that since its not affecting my battery at all. My question though is that since I downloaded it, is the 15mb of space it takes up on my phones internal storage now? And if so, how do I remove it? Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty sure that all updates are stored on the SD card...they probably wouldn't put it on the internal storage, because after a while, it would take up most of the space.
