Looks like I'm in the same boat as a lot of you. I stopped going in this forum after I got my note 4. I got tired of rooting and custom rom. I just wanted a phone stock. Lol.
Now I'm back and with soon to be 6p. But I also want it to be stock and enjoy the updates like normal people.

    Tap'd via Note 4...

Me too, 64gb graphite ordered up! I'm rooting it, I'll throw Bean's latest rom on there, his stuff is smooth.

So does getting this phone directly from Google mean I won't have to wait for Verizon to decide when I get updates?

Yes it sure does. You won't have to wait for Verizon to sell it either.

Verizon has no input on this phone. Google will update when it wants.

Or you can get updates from your friendly neighborhood hacker.

Okay. Not what I was assuming when you said hacker. So this multi-tool is exactly what WugFresh has had for years, but it's new so people like it?

Well give it time there will be updates and roms and a whole bunch of stuff in a month.
I'm staying with Wugfresh's toolkit. I'm sure he will update it. It's so easy to use.

Thanks guys. I have the Note 5 now, but the buzz around this phone caught my attention. I've had zero interest in Nexus phones until now simply because the cameras were awful, but supposedly this one is much better. Hopefully this doesn't feel like a huge step backwards coming from a Note 5.

If the reception sucks, it goes back to Google.
