Processor clock variances between models

Ok I can't figure out why my Droid X came with the processor at about 1Ghz, then my mother buys one and hers is clocked at under 850Mhz. Also my girlfriend just bought a Droid 2and it is clocked at 1.2Ghz STOCK. Can somebody explain to me why this is?

Why would you expect a different model to be clocked the same as yours? Was your mom's also a Droid X?
