A personal view point. | Sholes
I hope this doesn't hurt the development...
I am so over the Sholes drama I refuse to use their roms because of it. Im glad to see that this forum is drama free, I wish they could jump on board with that. TJM
We have lots of other developers to use that have amazing ROMs, apps, and programs. I personally will continue to support the drama free developers.
i still think sholes is an awesome rom and the drama as you call it I don't think has effected the development of it
The drama comes from morons trying to root when they have no business. There's nothing wrong with their ROMs, and aside from getting the shaft over the SMUpdater, they've made it the most painless process to root and flash the Droid.
Did you read the post before they took it down? This has nothing to do with users rooting.
I just did -- and I'm not sure how that's drama.
The Ayn Rand in me says that the SMU Dev was smart, and as long as he never claimed in the beginning that he would share his profits, then he's free and clear and the Sholes guys made a bad call.
The compassionate coder in me wants to chargeback my $5, and go SMU Dev hunting.
Hmmmm... Just did a search for smupdater in the Market and it wasn't there. It also doesn't show up when I list my Downloads from Market. Guess it was pulled.
You must have a very high threshold for drama!
top paid apps...number 3 on the list....at least for now.
Haha, I probably do.
Close for now.
How the sholes team interacts with each other and share monies is an internal matter ... it is not anyone's business but theirs.
Any time you throw money into a situation, it takes time to work out the kinks. That is true of all open source and in this situation too.
That does not mean you should not continue to use their product, unless it is degraded in some way. If it becomes degraded, then the money will not matter. If it does not become degraded, then it is the best $5.00 you ever spent. Either way, you paid $5.00 for a product, you got your monies worth, and they can split it up however they see fit.
Why you buy a hamburger at McDonald's, do you care how they spend that money? What's the difference?
