i am trying to get SS 4.7 stock theme from frozen yogurt. when its done downloading i choose to wipe cache/data and after it goes into clockwork and finishes installing, it gets stuck in the "M" logo boot loop. it doesnt even make it to the 2nd load screen....

try the install with the med voltage 0.8ghz kernel.

its likely that you are picking a kernel from the list of choices in rom manager that your phone doesnt like. For me...I tried many different kernels and the only one that my phone likes is the medv 1.0ghz kernel....my phone dispises the lv and ulv ones.

    try that first.

do a wipe on your next try too.

my experience: roms, kernels, and themes only install properply through RM if files are downloaded by phone to sd card--not transferred from pc to sd card.

See, this is all part of the reason I don't use Rom Manager. The thing simply has too many quirks and problems built into it. I much prefer SPRecovery as a means of doing installations. That program has *never* given me any problems at all.

While I agree with most of this Clockwork seems to work flawlessly as a standalone, you can use it just like SPR without the renaming.

    only install properly?

ive never had a problem with doing the pc-to-sd card... and theres no reason why that would be any different. my personal preference is to do it that way and not pay the $4 to have an app do it for me.

Clockwork works fine until something screws up. I've heard of people having issues with even direct-installed ROMs.

Of course, I've heard of people having issues installing ROMs with SPRecovery, too. It's invariably user error, so I'm willing to give the CW installs borking as user error too. As such, it's personal preference. :)

    Chrome2Phone these links as needed:

Save them to a folder on your SD card and then use CW to navigate to them to apply as update.zip installs.

    EDIT:

Also, make SURE you install a medium voltage kernel like previously suggested. SS comes with a low-voltage kernel that some phones do not work with. Chevy's 800MHz MV kernel should be a good starting point.

Once you have the ROM installed you need to install that kernel BEFORE attempting boot. If it still won't work you can try any of the medium voltage kernels, but the sad fact is not all ROMs work on all phones.
