i downloaded the new keyboard with SS4.7, i love how it looks and how has the suggestions as u type at the bottom, however i have issues when pressing the ALT key to do numbers and symbols, like if i press it once it like locks it in, but only in the middle and bottom row, with the exception of the letters "d" and "m" and the whole top row never locks at all not even with two presses, anyone having the same issues?

Thats weird... HAve you tried a reinstall? sometimes data gets fuzzed.... try redoing it and if the problem replicates then i shall think of other things.

I had the same thing when switching to the D2 keyboard (and didn't back up the previous stock D1 keyboard). Luckily, I like the HTC keyboard and switched back to it since I didn't want to reflash a rom while doing lots of OT.

I've got no complaints about the KB... however the red black and grey doesnt go great with the SS blue theme.. I would really like to see a themed version.. for SS blue

This is not an issue, the D1 HW KB IS different than the D2's, and thus the SW doesn't run the same.

Until someone recodes it, that's what we're stuck with in terms of the ALT and MENU keys.

The droid 2 MT keyboard has issues with the Droid 1 physical keyboard. just change to a different keyboard and you'll be fine :)

have you tried the HTC IME KB?

its not a "swype" style but it is very smooth and quick to use

    also very customizable..

Gimpsta has made a web based customizer VERY COOL!!!

Extract the .apk out of the .zip and install it like a normal app.

Here's an example for those interested. Looks awesome, and it has a bunch of customizations.

That is strange, I use a droid 2 multi touch keyboard that doesn't replace my stock keyboard and doesn't give me any problems as described in the OP.
