problem with Apex launcher, need help

I have used Apex before and decided to give it another chance. I just downloaded it and at the bottom tapped the icon for messenger in the bar at the bottom and it says that app isn't installed? I tapped the icon that displays my apps, the messenger app for texting works just fine.

How can I get the icon for texts to work with Apex? I didn't have this problem when I used this launcher before.

Weird. Have you tried just replacing the shortcut? Hold and drag the messaging app to the trashcan, go into your app drawer and hold and drag the messaging app out and put it down at the bottom.
