What ROM are you running? This is most likely the cause. Bugless Beast supports this option.

@Liquid Fusion Thanks for guinea pigging all the stated fixes. Definitely came in handy. I've tried two of them both with great success just as you :)

my phone goes like this dancedroid

    I'm running Kangerade 1.0.

I "Thought" linux was linux and these commands worked on all flavors. I guess I need to go over to the Kangerade thread and look there.

    Thanks for the help

None of these work. I'm getting "no such file or directory". I checked the system/app folder and I don't see google maps in there anywhere. I think it's gone. But I still can't install the app.

sysrw and sysro are scripts Pete included in Bugless Beast. If running Kangerade I would recommend spelling out the actual mount commands on the previous page.

If Maps.apk doesn't exist in /system/app just skip the "rm" line for /system/app/Maps.apk

    su
    sysrw
    rm system/app/Maps.apk
    cd system/bin
    sh pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps
    sysro

I do that, skip the rm system/app/maps.apk, and get "failure" after I try the sh pm uninstall command.

I was having the same issue, then I found this post:

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...google-maps-4-3-install-froyo.html#post577728

    specifically this line:

After doing the above, with the other commands, it finally worked for me.

I have the same exact problem. I get "Failure" after I try to execte the sh pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps line of code.

Edit: I also get "unkown reason -8" when I try to install maps from the market.

    Any ideas?
