Problem after using Root Explorer

    So i used root explorer to change my status clock from black to white. All worked well but after i rebooted i am now getting these pop ups saying "Google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly" or something like that. They keep popping up after a few seconds. How do i get rid of this? Hopefully it is not a serous problems.

    hopefully someone who really knows the answer will speak up, but I suspect that the problem revolves around setting permissions.
    I think that you have to long press the file and look for permissions and then set them, choosing read read/write etc.

    What instructions did you follow to change the clock? Is there a ref to permissions anywhere there?

    Have you tried simply resetting your Droid. Usually that will fix most of these issues, just like a reboot on a computer.

    Go to Settings/Accounts & sync and turn off all synchronization to temporarily stop the errors.

    I turned off sync but am still getting the messages. After a while the phone will reset itself. How do i do the above directions in bold?

    I tried reflashing and doing a nandroid restore (or so i think i did). How do you do a restore the right way? Or a complete restore i don't care if i loose apps or settings, i just want to fix this.

    These are the directions i used. Also when i placed the .jar file in the right folder it asked if i wanted to replace the existing one so i put "yes". I also had to "Mount" something in order for it to let me paste it in the folder.

    These are terminal commands that can be done for you issue. Since I don't use root explorer

    su
    mount -o remount,rw-t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    cd /system/framework
    chmod 644 /system/framework/services.jar
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /deb/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot

    I'm not really good with that stuff. Will doing a factory reset affect anything serious with being rooted? Will I be unrooted afterwards? I think that would be my easiest option right now.

    so i did a factory reset and nandroid restore and still having the same problem. Now i can't turn off my syncing before my phone reboots. I'm out of things to do... Do i call verizon?

    Any more suggestion guys? Sorry to seem impatient but i can't really even use the phone at this point.

    It sounds like yo have done a lot of stuff.

    The issue of setting permissions in rootexplorer of services.jar involve going to the file and long pressing it. Another box will open. I think you have to check the following boxes
    User: Read Write
    Group: Read
    Others: Read

    Whether the above can help you at this point, I just don't know

    i got those errors after installing the 2.0.1 live wallpapers

    ended up restoring an old backup i had created and problem solved.

    OK i have my fingers crossed! I did what you said and rebooted, i haven't had any of the pop ups anymore but it did reboot on its own once. Hopefully it is fixed. Thanks again!

    Now that's scary. I've jumped the big hurdle and rooted my phone and have a custom ROM. I don't think I'll risk it running great to a jacked up one trying to do something as trivial as changing a clock color.
