So i used root explorer to change my status clock from black to white. All worked well but after i rebooted i am now getting these pop ups saying "Google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly" or something like that. They keep popping up after a few seconds. How do i get rid of this? Hopefully it is not a serous problems.

    TIA

hopefully someone who really knows the answer will speak up, but I suspect that the problem revolves around setting permissions.
I think that you have to long press the file and look for permissions and then set them, choosing read read/write etc.

What instructions did you follow to change the clock? Is there a ref to permissions anywhere there?

Have you tried simply resetting your Droid. Usually that will fix most of these issues, just like a reboot on a computer.

getting slammed with com.google.process.gapps force close errors after applying this. Any ideas?

Go to Settings/Accounts & sync and turn off all synchronization to temporarily stop the errors.
Set permission 644 (User: Read Write Group: Read Others: Read) on /system/framework/services.jar
Reboot and turn sync back on.

I turned off sync but am still getting the messages. After a while the phone will reset itself. How do i do the above directions in bold?

I tried reflashing and doing a nandroid restore (or so i think i did). How do you do a restore the right way? Or a complete restore i don't care if i loose apps or settings, i just want to fix this.
    TIA

These are the directions i used. Also when i placed the .jar file in the right folder it asked if i wanted to replace the existing one so i put "yes". I also had to "Mount" something in order for it to let me paste it in the folder.

These are terminal commands that can be done for you issue. Since I don't use root explorer

    su
    mount -o remount,rw-t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    cd /system/framework
    chmod 644 /system/framework/services.jar
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /deb/block/mtdblock4 /system
    sync
    reboot

I'm not really good with that stuff. Will doing a factory reset affect anything serious with being rooted? Will I be unrooted afterwards? I think that would be my easiest option right now.

It sounds like yo have done a lot of stuff.

The issue of setting permissions in rootexplorer of services.jar involve going to the file and long pressing it. Another box will open. I think you have to check the following boxes
    User: Read Write
    Group: Read
    Others: Read

Whether the above can help you at this point, I just don't know

Now that's scary. I've jumped the big hurdle and rooted my phone and have a custom ROM. I don't think I'll risk it running great to a jacked up one trying to do something as trivial as changing a clock color.
