I am trying to ponder, why ?

Why do I want an ubuntu or debian or whatever linux distro on my phone?

One possible idea is to convert file types that Android cannot currently use, say wmv, silverlight stuff?

Or say you cannot get your VPN client working with Android.

Anyone have any clever usage scenarios?

Hey man, thanks for your post in the other thread about the port number. I can't believe I got this working in less than a few hours! dancedroid

I'm trying to get java installed so I can attempt to run some online poker software. It would be too sweet to be able to play cash games on this thing.

Do you think you could point me in the right direction to figure out how to get other distros running this way? I'm thinking about the new Mint fluxbox RC.

    Thanks again!

i think you could make slick little low power wifi aps and routers, servers, dedicated spy cam/surveilance cam,.... think of it as a small embedded pc, like it is, with a camera and misc radios. we might finally be able to plug in usb devices to the usb port (physically possible?)
id really like to retire mine as a fileserver with a hdd attached somehow. either thru usb or some sort of microSD adapter type thing.
use all of 1 watt maybe
