That would do it, yes. You can't install deodexed stuff on an odexed ROM like that.

Sorry, my brain wasn't fully engaged with my first post. :)

To be honest, you might be better off posting the question over in the developers section, or (preferred), PMing some SMod to see if they'll move it for you. :)

you can, but not when its set up as a system app. in order to make it so you can install it on your friends non rooted phone you need to sign it. I suggest using apk manager to easily sign the apk and then try installing that version. Also, your friend will need to uninstall the market version of the app from her phone before you can install the custom signed version.

I've never tried taking a system app and installing it on a non rooted phone, so it is possible that you will need to use apk manager to decompile and then recompile and sign it, but I dont think that will be necessary.

    It is possible~!

You CAN install modified .apk's on non-rooted phones, you do however have to make sure that it isn't one of the apps that came pre-installed on the phone, because that app will already exist in the /system directory so you won't be able to install it.

IF the modified .apk you're attempting to install isn't one that was pre-installed on the phone, then you need to modify the images in the file, then RE-SIGN the apk, if you don't resign it, then the only way to install it is to move it to the /system folder, which only rooted phones have the ability to do.

There should be a thread somewhere on this forum that I posted quite a while ago on how to re-sign .apk files. it's pretty much a dos program to run on top of windows to sign .apk's.

    Good luck!
