So before I go over to Verizon this Friday I thought I would post a question to the experienced..

I have a Sholes Moto Droid 1 (no simcard) with Verizon service and I was just handed a Droid 2 Global today (with simcard). Is it possible to have Verizon transfer my existing service over to the D2G? And if so is there activation charges?

Love me D1 still tho.. but the RAM just ain't cutting it anymore.

Yes you can...
Should be no charges...
You may have to get a new sim from them but that may be free also...

VZW can xfer service regardless of sim card. The sim is only for overseas use on GSM, but it's better to just buy a local SIM card and use that if the D2G is unlocked. Make sure you don't update it past 4.5.608 or else you can't root. I do have the original 4.5.606 update.zip leak around if you're interested. It borked further OTA updates as far as I remember.
