FC on gallery here as well....im sure there will be a fix though.
fix please!!! FC everytime...I don't want to reset my phone!!! Please?
gallery is a problem here too. I like Nemo, not sure if it will replace gallery for me.
According to droid-life, the only fixes so far are restoring a pre-nemo backup, or copying your SD card contents to your computer, then reformatting SD card, then copying back to SD card. I'm not sure how well the latter works, because I had a recent backup.
The problem appears to be located in a corrupted cache directory. After copying all SD contents to your computer delete the cache directory that is on your computer and then format SD and restore the files and directories from your computer to the formated SD. Reboot to recreate a clean cache directory on your SD card. This info is from the Moto Forums relating a fix for the Galery FC issue after the 2.1 OTA.
Any idea if that means one can keep Nemo after doing the cache dance?
I don't think so.. I think the app needs to be updated to prevent the gallery FC
Gallery will crash because (maps) crashes because of geocoding (I assume nemo adds some extra info in the thumbnail folder) When I first heard of the problem this is what I did.
-Uninstalled nemo (didnt fix)
-Placed a .nomedia file in DCIM (Gallery didnt crash)
-Deleted .Thumbnails folder (Gallery still worked but its because of .nomedia)
-Deleted .nomedia in DCIM (Gallery worked loaded my camera images)
-Reinstalled Nemo to see if it would still work (Gallery and Nemo worked)
I assume any images/pictures that has gps data in them will have to have its .thumbnails folder deleted. For me, it was only DCIM But check to see if you have any other picture folder that has .thumbnails
Apologies but I'm don't know what that means...
All I have a is a DCIM folder, no DSIM.
Where do I get a .nomedia file?
I ment DCIM, just make a blank "*.txt" document and rename it to ".nomedia"
Or check the /sdcard/AndroidThemes/DarkEdge/ <--or whatever dir) for .nomedia and copy to DCIM or whatever folder. If gallery works after copying .nomedia there, then thats the problem directory
Here's what I did and it still doesn't work:
- Copied .nomedia into the DCIM folder
- Tried Gallery - FC'd
- Deleted .thumbnails folder
- Tried Gallery - FC'd
