im looking to install this one rom but im told it needs to have a full wipe done, how do i do this on the incredible. also im currently running cyanogen and do not have the stock back up, will this affect the new rom, or do i need to re-stock before i wipe and install the new rom. and if i need to re-stock how do i do it. i was told to download a file and then locate a pg31img file on my phone and replace it with a new file but cant find the file on my phone.

looking to get the "incredibly re-engineered" rom and know nothing about kernels what they do or anything, i would like better battery life but dont wanna slow down my phone eather.

just flash the rom... you dont have to go stock every time you flash a phone, unless the incredible is not as incredible as it sounds and here for next time....

Well the maker of the rom stated a full wipe was needed....but if I do a full wipe I still will not be stock. N to get stock I was told to locate a getting file on my phone and replace it but that file is nowhere to be found.

full wipe meaning a /data and /cache wipe.... so restoring to factory default.

but that doesn't mean you need to go to the stock rom...

    1 boot into recovery
2 select "wipe data (factory default) or something like that...
    3 install your new rom

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_kernel

the kernel is a low level hardware controller (kinda) i dont know how to explain it)

but it controls cpu speeds and such, now i dont have an incredible but most kernels work with anyrom as long as the kernel is built for the incredible

if you're running gingerbread then you'll wanna go with a 2.6.35.x kernel
or if youre running froyo then you'll want a 2.6.32.x kernel

its fine... questions help you learn, now when someone else asks maybe you can pass on your knowledge to answer their question.
