Fission ROM should not accept the update when it is pushed by VZW.

if it does, then just cancel it.

I will be in lab to see if there are any upgrades that can be ported over to Fission. So far it is just the radio and kernel. This is a good thing since it will force everyone to SBF, get update, perform factory reset and then install Fission.

I am not sure if I will emerge from lab with Fission 2.0, 1.3 or or we will remain on 1.2.1. Have to see what is different. I think nothing so far but we will see.

Do not SBF if you have updated with OTA update. I repeat again do not update and then SBF. I just bricked my development device.

Fission development time has now been cut down a lot now since I will not tie up my phone with development time.

I dont know if I should. I am willing to test with the development phone that I have but don't want to brick it either :)

If I do it and it does brick I hope the community chips in a few bucks each for new dev phone :)

I am off to try it now...

Ya I just heard its not backward compatible because of the bootloader or something. Exercise caution after ota.

Do not SBF after update. My dev device is now a paperweight :)

My development on Fission has now been cut a lot since I am not tiening up my phone as much any more.

I took the liberty of putting up the warning over at XDA, with links back to the threads here so people knew it was coming from you AngDroid.

In the meantime, how bad does the OTA break the phone? I would imagine it's possible it could result in losing root, breaking recovery, etc. Any updates on what the current status is on this?

If you use the OTA update you are stuck with OEM software till we find the latest SBF file.

If you SBF with current SBF files your phone will be a brick.

So it breaks everything but Fission will not accept update.

As far as I know you will def lose root and apparently from now on all updates will be forward compatible only. Not sure about losing recovery but it really would surprise me. All I know is I'm holding off on updating.

I haven't made the jump to Fission yet, but like many others I am using one of the Green 2.4.5 ROMs. What does the OTA mean for us? Sorry for such a noob question, but I don't want a paperweight either.

It means the same, DO NOT SBF!!! You guys are already on the latest software. Only difference is radio and kernel.
