Did you do a wipe before the install?

I'm curious why you wiped after you flashed?

I read some posts saying that certain kinds of firmware file with suffix "Service1FF.sbf" won't wipe data and cache after upgrade as usual and can cause peculiar problems when using. Now I tried reflashing without 2nd wipe, still reboot continuously. Do you think my phone bricked ? What should I do then?
    Thanks!

No I do not think you phone is bricked. I not clear on what you've done. Can you send me a PM with the exact steps that you have taken so far. That will help me to get a grasp of the problem and to get you a solution.

I'm thinking he re-flashed his phone, but instead of using the 2.0 file, he used 2.1 which gets About phone info to be all the 2.1 info. People have done this on the Droid, and I think this is what he is talking about. The guide for the Droid is HERE so you know what I am talking about.

I hate to say this but we might be the wrong guys to ask. The milestone is different from the droid from what I've read. I'm not sure if droid rooting techniques work on the milestone.

They don't. It takes different ways to root different milestones too in different countries I think.

    Hi! everybody

Thank you for your replies. My failed upgrade process is as follows:

    1. press [camera button] + [power button]
    2. press [volume up button] + [camera button] to enter recovery mode.
    3. select wipe data and do it, then wipe cache and do it.
    4. select reboot, press [d-pad up button] when booting to enter bootloader mode.
    5. start rsdlite 4.6
    6. connect usb cable.
    7. rsdlite displays status msg "connected"
    8. now select some firmware image file XXX
    9. click start, then flashing begins happily without an err.
    10. phone goes into repeated reboot when rsdlite displays status msg "Phone is being rebooted."
    11. when "Please manually power up this phone" displays, i unplug the phone from usb cable but still the phone reboots repeatedly without a stop until the battery is drained.

I have taken photos of the whole process. I can post the them here if above description still doesn't explain clearly.

Yea he re-flashed his phone. Can you try this with a 2.0 file? I wouldn't know where to find a 2.0 file for the milestone, but if you find one try it.

No. Still doesn't work with a 2.0 sbf. Is my phone some kind of weird edition which contains only non-production public key? my bootloader version number is 90.70 by the way.

If I were you, try to track down a motorola milestone forum, because even though the milestone and droid are relatively the same phone, they aren't totally the same. All I can say is are you sure you are using a Motorola Milestone 2.0 sbf for your upgrade? If your phone can boot on, there has to be something someone else can do to help you, but not many of us here are going to be able to help you.

Np. Usually those over at Alldroid know a thing or two, so I am happy to recommend that website.
