If you can boot into Fastboot, it will work:
    INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

FIRST ENTER AP FASTBOOT MODE ON YOUR PHONE [Both Vol Dwn and Up Plus Pwr/Scroll Dwn to AP Fastboot/Press Vol up] then connect to computer and in the folder created by the file that you downloaded in this link: R3L3As3Droot And 43V3R Root For The Bionic V2.1 - RootzWiki double click the "R3L3AS3DRoot.bat" file and follow the instructions. If it doesn't work read the thread and you'll find out why it didn't work.

    Good luck.

What's the easiest way to tell if I still have root? I used forever root and then updated to .893 and want to find out if I still have root.

Look for the superuser app that is the easiest no bs way to tell then download titanium backup and see if it asks for superuser permission
