Pinch to display 7 screens

One of the things I like with the 2.1 is the pinch to display the 7 screens.
But after doing a factory reset this only works from the home screen when I touch the home button.

Does anyone know how to reactivate this for the "pinch" from any screen?

you can double tap the home key as well

I actually found the problem, when SWYPE is enabled then the pinch to zoom stops working. Going back to regular input method starts pinch to zoom again.
