Does this new update include Double Tap zoom? It killed me when I tried Dolphin a while back and saw it didnt have double tap! Why remove stock features?

Yes and better double tap. It zooms from where you taps.
As a bonus, if you triple tap or continuously tap, it will keep zooming in or out.
Try the Pin Zoom feature (tap first, then quickly press again but not release it, then sweep/drag to right to zoom in and left to zoom out). If you downloaded the application before 2PM as of today, please update it again (search 'browser xScope' to clear Android Market's cache).

I just want to say thanks to all you devs for creating awesome alternatives to browsing and including multitouch. There is just one thing that is keeping me from using xscope or dolphin as my default browser, though. On the stock browser, it loads webpages in "overview" meaning zoomed out but fits the screen perfectly. This is good because on most pages it is still readable because of the droids awesome resolution. If someone would just add this in to one of these alternative browsers (so I don't have to zoom out on every page loaded) I would use it as my default. Just a thought. Thanks again!

Thanks eL. This is achieveable. In fact, there is a default zoom scale (1.5 by the default browser). I think it can be a user configurable number in the future update.

There is just another update (minutes ago) to address lots of users asked 'toggle full screen' option. To update, I would search with new keywords such as 'zoom browser xscope' to make sure android market isn't looking from its cache.

xscope's zooming capabilities are superb... too bad the developers can't combine forces with Dolphin...

It is my understanding that Apple bought a company called Fingerworks a couple of years ago. That company supposedly holds all the patents on pinching etc. It still is unclear how strong the patent is and if Apple will sue anyone like Palm.

^^ if you're not familiar with this stuff, you should really think about doing it. If you screw it up you can brick your phone, rendering it nothing more than a paperweight. You would definitely void your phone's warranty.

In basic theory, you're following a series of technical steps that replaces a set of instructions on the device that limits what the device can or cannot do. You install a new set of modified instructions onto the device in it's place. This can be great, if you do it right and the ROM is stable. It can, however, be disastrous if done incorrectly or with a bad ROM.

I would guess the ROM that releases will be mostly stable. Question is how technical / risky are you feeling, and how important is multi-touch all over your Droid? ;)
