Picture file location?

I suspect this has been covered, but I could not find any info on it.

I would like to copy photographs to my Droid. I do not see any "clear" location to put them. I would like to be able to create various folders for different subjects and have Gallery "see them". Where would be a good place to store them?

You you manually copy files or are you using a file sync software?

Hi and welcome to the forums. We certainly have covered this topic and if you have any doubts, you should always perform a search first!

To answer your question, pictures are automatically stored in the DCIM folder of your SD card. You can create as many folders as you like anywhere on your card and the gallery will search out these images.

To keep things organized, I recommend keeping all of your images in the DCIM folder.

You should go to the market and download a file manager app called Astro. Then you can set your pictures in whatever groups you please.

Do pictures you take with the phone go to the SD card?

Because I've taken 3 pictures with the phone and saved one image from the web.

I have 4 galleries.

Camera pictures 3 (3 from phone)
Camera Media 3 (3 from phone)
All pictures 4 (3 from phone, 1 from web)
SD Card 1 (1 from web)


Am I missing something?

Yeah, that's just how it works and it's in the SD Card. That's why it's a good idea to get a file manager to put your photos into instead of having them all over the place. Well, they will still be all over the place but YOU will know what file they are in.
