Every time I turn on my phone it takes like 5 minutes to actually get working. Is this normal for all Droid charges or just mine.

no its not normal. What apps are you always running/logged into/synqing? Which part of the boot up takes the longest? Is it the animation? Media scanner? Are your apps consolidated in a single location or are they interspersed between phone and SD card? I'm no pro; just a guy that has his stock charge fine tuned like a dream.

The animation and the media scanner are both taking a long time and my media is on my phone and my SD card.

I just clocked my start up from "Droid" to all of my icons rendering and it was finished in just under two minutes. I can only recommend what steps I've taken to speed my phone up. I run adw ex pro as a launcher. I limit my desktop to 3 screens. I keep all my icons in folders. NO WIDGETS. The only Widgets I use are the stock power manager, a BW super clock 4x1 refreshing every four hours, a calendar, and a search bar. Facebook is great but it is a memory hog so I don't stay logged in. Download app cache cleaner. It is a great way to manage the memory that some of your superfluous apps and your browser are using. The short version, our charges only have a paltry 312 megs of ram. You have to be vigilant of what's running. Check your running services, don't force close them, fine tune your apps to use less memory mainly by limiting their refresh frequency.

Are you rooted? What Rom? Mine used to be very slow to start. I'm rooted with the stock looking debloated 2.3.6 , now I am completely up and running in 30 seconds from restart
