Can't figure this one out, but my phone turns into an iron when its just sitting at idle. It was working absolutely fine when I flashed 5.02 last night. I woke up this morning and the thing is just insanely hot. Something is using a massive amount of cpu but I don't know what it is and I don't know the name of any app that could tell me.

    Any ideas?

My phone did this regularly until I changed kernals. I'm using petes new kernal from the list and my phone runs cool for a long time, even under load.

Try changing kernals from elite settings and see if that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll change the kernels and report back in a few hours.

Were you also burning through the battery at idle? I have the two issues concurrently. Was going to try a new kernal myself but can't seem to charge the phone at all now ...

Yes, I definitely was. Went down 20% in almost 20 minutes. I haven't charged my phone yet with pete's kernel but I will need to soon. I think charging may have something to do with the issue, considering I was charging it last night.

    On another note:
Has anyone noticed a difference in the fluidity of the rom when changing from Raidzero's kernels to pete's? Pete's seems slightly choppier, but with Raidzero I was running iPhone smooth.

OH also, I forgot to mention:

Aside from whatever is not getting along with this rom/kernel, the GB build is absolutely fantastic. I have been fortunate enough to not be plagued with the issues that others have been having. I get my MMS, notifications, and calls all as I should. You guys are all too awesome. When all other roms pissed me off I came here and I have yet to be disappointed!

Switched to Pete's kernal and my battery was gone in less than 3 hours just idling. It does faster than my spare battery can charge. Getting frustrating. Any other ideas?

Try a different kernel, or reset battery stats with this kernel. Actually, you should reset battery stats with every new kernel.

People are finding that different kernels give wildly different effects on their phones. Rz1.1lv ran well, but my phone rebooted like crazy. Same with rz 1lv. Just try different kernels until you find one that plays well with your phone. Also, I use set cpu with profiles to extend my battery life. I typically can go 18-28 hours between charges

The RZ 1100 (Stock) was no better for me. Using the RZ 800 now and that seems to be ok. Have to play around tomorrow with something a little higher and the battery reset. Didn't think the battery stats would affect it that much but I'm new so I'm likely way off :)

At least for now I can use my phone for something other than a hand warmer.

RZ 800 gives me about 7 hours battery at idle and it's still quite warm. Maybe I need to go back to stock or another Froyo Rom :(

I run that same kernel with PEv5 & CM7 nightlies. MrDan do you use setcpu & if so will you screencap your profiles?

Not using SetCPU (actually just downloading it). I have PEv5 and the Epic Blue theme. Which profiles would you like to see?

Oh. I meant setcpu profiles; but you might as well go ahead & do your battery usage. [IMG]

Here we go. I made one 16min phone call at 2:25. Other than that, the phone has been sitting on my desk all day. It's been charging off my pc since the phone call. Oh - and WiFi and GPS are always off unless actively in use.
