Oh then don't give up yet man, you need a mostly charged battery. Another thing I just thought of too, remove the sdcard and try every usb port you have. Sometimes little crap like that, stuff that shouldn't matter at all, for some weird ass reason, will make a difference.

So use a full battery, take out sdcard, try every usb port. I'd stick with the linux method too, it's just more reliable. But RSDlite has always worked for me too lol.

I guess just keep trying, but a full battery just might be the trick.

Just wanted to update this post. I received my new one from Verizon today . However I saw the new sbf that was posted and thought what the hell I will see what happens before I send this other one off and of course it worked . So now I guess ill have to call verizon and act dumb and tell them my old one magically works.

EditNew SBF? Are you referring to the 2.3.3 SBF? I had the same issue with a DX2 and ended up sending it back to Verizon. I took the OTA GB on the new device(after unrooted and unsupercharged my Froyo) and I now hate my phone again. About to attempt an SBF back to Froyo and Flash Pre-rooted 2.3.3. I want to know what SBF you are referring to so I can correct my issue if I were to have another failed to boot 4 message. I'm gun shy after the past brick!
Edit: SBF worked! Now on rooted GB!
