phone dials while in messaging

While I'm in my he stock messaging app waiting for a reply my phone starts dialing the person I'm messaging doesn't seem to matter what conversation I'm in either. I don't touch the screen or anything. I know there is a button at the top but my fingers are always at the bottom. Is this some kind of glitch in lollipop? it's more annoying than anything. Thanks for any help.

In phone settings go to motions and gesture. Turn off direct call see if that helps.

If not you may have to clear data for messenging and see if that helps. If you clear data you will lose ALL messages.
