I just installed the PDA Net application on my phone and laptop. What is everyone's impression of this application? Does it work pretty well? How reliable is the connection? Is it pretty fast?

    Thanks,

The connection and speed is dependant on your phone, not the application. Pages load faster just because your computer can process them faster than your phone, but the actual connection has nothing to do with the application.

With that said, the program is pretty flawless in my opinion. I was on vacation in Niagara Falls a few weeks ago and the hotel internet wifi was non-existant. I was able to download the PDAnet applications (both the phone and pc apps) on my phone, transfer the pc app via usb, install both, and was browsing away at decent speed. Worked great and was free.

+1 on PDANet. Have been using it for many years between my Treo, and now droid. Works great.

+1 for PDANet as well. Like syntax53, I keep a copy of the PDANet Windows installer on my Droid so I can install it on any computer, usually up and running in just a few mins. Works quite well...

PDAnet is cool, unless you have a rooted phone in which you wont need the cable and can wirelessly tether ;)

I used pdanet for YEARS with windows mobile but i like wireless tethering its just easier, not cables needed :) But for unrooted phones its the way to go, unless you have an X which i hear for now you can bluetooth tether.

I just downloaded PDAnet on my droid X and it's working great. Not sure what will happen once 2.2 comes out. Am I correct in thinking that this has nothing to do with rooting the phone? I should still be able to get updates and everything right? I don't really care to go the free wifi route. My computer is the only one I care connect to the internet. I couldn't think of any situations I've been in lately where someone else needed to connect to the internet. I think I'm going to go ahead and cancel my DSL and save myself $20 a month. couldn't do this with the iphone because my signal sucked! loving the droid X and verizon's network.

PDAnet is awesome just be careful getting rid of your DSL, verizon doesnt usually notice small usages but bigger usage they may catch on, personally i wouldn't replace my internet with my phones internet but thats just me.

I have the trial of PDANet installed... Not sure how long the trial lasts... But I went away on a trip for the weekend and did not use it... Now it is EXTREMELY slow...

Can anyone shed any light at all on this problem?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app see if that fixes it, not sure why it would be going slow now after you were away sounds like an app glitch. is the rest of the phone slow?
