Nothing. It's a promotion from Palm.

Because HTC and Moto arent paying Verizon. VZW isnt just eating $30/month to be nice, Palm has paid for this promotion.

Eh, they are limited to 4GB of data a month, though. My wife just got a Palm Pre about three weeks ago and the salesperson "sold" that little tidbit about wireless hot spots to us, and I inquired about it. He said 4GB max, but didn't really indulge into anything further.

Well, unlimited data on my phone with 4GB a month on my computer... still doesn't sound like a bad deal I guess. Better than nothing.

4g should be plenty, and its free? sweet deal. You shouldn't be buying a phone to replace your internet connection.
