I am computer and phone illiterate. Is there a place I can go to find out what overclocking and kernels mean, what unzipping a file means. Whats a theme, a rom. I updated 2.2 and I honestly cant tell a difference, what am I doing wrong? If I'm as clueless as I am will I benefit from rooting my phone? Someone please help!

:welcome: to the Forum - we have a whole section dedicated to the Droid X as well as a Sister Forum - DroidXForums - read and ask questions and things will become easier to understand - there are always benefits to rooting a device, I suggest doing research here on the forum and gaining a good understanding first :)

You've definately come to the right place. Like tp said you can find all your answers in the droid x sub forum. Welcome and have fun.

P.s. yes you will benefit from rooting. I came here less then 2 months ago as a total droid noob with only some tech experience and look at me now. That doesn't really mean anything to you... but yeah...

    Welcome!!! :)

Follow tp76's advise and mwhartmans links and you'll be fine.

Remember...the time it takes to do something right is way shorter than the time it takes to fix the mistakes. Reading is never time wasted.

    Hello and welcome...

Definitely read thru the info in the links...don't rush into it, understand it first...there are alot of knowledgeable people on this forum and www.droidxforums.com that can help and assist when you are ready to make that step.

Remember, the X is a great phone as stock to and I understand wanting to reach the full potential - but it is a terrible paperweight :)....
