I followed this tutorial, and everything went according to plan. I have root access, etc.

I installed SetCPU from the market... and am not able to overclock beyond 550mhz.

Will I need a custom ROM to overclock to 800? I am quite happy with my current setup, just wanted to give the overclocking a shot. Not really wanting to install a custom ROM if I can avoid it.

    Thanks!

I am running stock root 2.1 and I was able to oc with Chevy's kernels. What recovery are you running? For clockwork, all I had to do was load the zip for the kernel onto the root of the sd card, reboot into recovery, install zip from sd card, select the kernel zip and it loaded up great. Hope that helps....

    I used SPRecovery.

I can't seem to find any kernels (or instructions) that allow overclocking, but keep the stock theme. Any clues?

    Thanks!

Just search the forum for Chevy's kernels and P3 droid. they both seem to work with the stock 2.1 root, like I said, I am running chevy's 1 ghz now. Usually they will have sprecovery and clockwork recovery downloads available. Don't work about your theme, the kernels have nothing to do with changing the theme, that's what the custom roms do...

You can also download Rom Manager Premium and do it with clockwork...

    Awesome, thanks for the tips.

I am up and running on Chevy's 1ghz (7 slot, lv). Set at max 800, min 550 - definitely noticed a difference straight away.

    cheer!

no problem, I wouldn't be where I am at without alot of help from this forum. Don't be afraid to ask. Just remember to backup before you change anything and once you have a good backup... or two, just go ahead and mod away!
