So heres the deal after reading up on overclocking it seems somewhat risky but the 800mhz seems like a safe bet. I'm using the motorola droid btw. Anyways i'm not really sure how to go about it and have yet to get any roms for my rooted phone.

    SO, heres what I need:
    - someone who knows what they're doing
    - Instructions on how to overclock my phone
    - The roms and any other links i may need to install

Assuming this can all be done through RSDlite.

    Thanks guys

are you already rooted? If so, what process did you use to do so? Do you have a custom recovery in place, such as SPRecovery or Clockwork?

i've got SPRecovery and i dont remember the exact file i used when i flashed my phone. But it was from one of the rescue squads signatures. As for process I used RSD lite to flash the recovery file and then installed the update.zip ( from rescue squad files )

ok, so right now you are stock rooted? If you want to overclock you need to download an app called "setcpu". You can set your overclock speed to 800mhz.

there is more to it than just that. But setcpu is a good starting point. If you want a custom rom, you can find them in the forum here and follow the instructions. Each Rom comes with a kernel, most of the time the kernel is already overclocked. Setcpu allows you to change the processor speed. You can also download overclocking kernels that change the speed to more than 800mhz.

so should i monitor the battery temp or should i be safe at a max/min of 800mhz which is all the way apparently for the kernel i have installed..which im assuming is stock. Or should i find one that can handle way more and set it at 800. OR does it affect the battery temp all the same

Yes. Monitor battery to temp. I monitor all temps. You could flash another kernel, but I don't think it matters for what your asking. I used chevyno1 kernels when I was stock rooted with no problems.

Check out the thread "overclocking 101". Should be a link in my signature. It has helped me a lot. Yes use a temperature profile along with others.
